INDY FOP MEMBERSHIP PASSES NEW CONTRACT WITH CITY
NEW FOUR YEAR CONTRACT OVERWHELMINGLY PASSES WITH 97% APPROVAL
INDIANAPOLIS –On Friday (10/28/16), President Rick Snyder of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #86 announced the membership of the organization has passed a 4 year contract agreement with the City of Indianapolis for January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2020.
The proposal outlines the following key points: Indy Metro Police Officers will receive increases in base salary over the next four years of 3% (2017), 2% (2018), 2% (2019), 2% (2020) which will result in an overall average increase of 9% over the four year term.
For the first time in departmental history, the FOP also achieved a commitment from the City on overall minimum staffing with an agreement to fund no less than 1,700 IMPD Officers by December 31, 2019.
In response FOP President, Rick Snyder issued the following written statement:
“This has been a deliberate process which has allowed our police officers, elected officials and our citizens to balance the need for proper staffing within our police department while also retaining a quality workforce of highly skilled police officers.”
“From the beginning, the FOP has made clear our primary concern has revolved around the safety of our community and our police officers as it relates to the current staffing of the IMPD. Our membership has worked with the City of Indianapolis to identify multiple efficiencies and cost savings so that more officers may be hired while also ensuring the retention of our quality workforce. We appreciate the commitment of Mayor Joe Hogsett to the safety and wellbeing of the women and men of the IMPD. Our officers look forward to having this matter resolved so that they may continue to focus on the safety and quality of life within our neighborhoods for the residents and visitors of the great City of Indianapolis.”
