Greetings!
Monday May
5, 2008 the
Metropolitan
Development
Committee
will be
meeting.
There has
been recent
concerns in
the
Irvington
Historic
District
pertaining
to
IHPC.
(Indianapolis
Historic
Preservation
Commission.)
As a member
of the
Metropolitan
Development
Committee I
have asked
that
Administrator
Mr. David
Baker appear
in front of
the
committee to
explain the
process of
IHPC in
local
neighborhoods.
He has
graciously
accepted and
will be
present.
Monday May

Metropolitan
Development
Committee
City-County
Building
Room 260 at
5:30pm
I represent
the largest
historic
district in
the State of
Indiana, and
the town of
Cumberland,
which is a
conservation
district
under IHPC.
I encourage
those
residents
that live in
either
Irvington or
Cumberland
to attend,
or watch on
public
access
television.
This will
allow you to
know more
about the
process that
governs
projects
where you
live.
I value both
these
historic
districts,
but will be
moving ahead
with plans
to hold the
nine member
commission
more
accountable
to the full
City-County
Council. I
welcome
input from
residents
and members
of IHPC to
implement
changes that
reflect
broader
Irvington
and
Cumberland
values in
making local
decisions
that often
have a cost
associated
with them.
I plan to
work with
Mr. Baker,
Mayor
Ballard, and
members of
the Indiana
General
Assembly to
accomplish
changes,
once again
please
provide your
input and
suggestions.
Thank you,

Benjamin
